F4: Context K2 Screen Printers

K2 Screen Printers is one of the leading specialist silk-screen printers in London. Unlike K2, Factory four offers additional services and lower rates. Their identity is actually very similar to the new logo I have created for factory four. I am unsure as to whether I should consider looking again at the logo design.

F4 Business Card Mock-up

For the F4 identity brief I screen printed some stationary items that they could use for their invoicing and documentation. The stationary is printed in gold which will be a running identifying colour throughout the company.

Factory 4 Newsletter formats and layouts

The factory 4 newsletter is to be created to provide a communication point between the members and possible new members to find out what is going on, who's joining/joined, and what new businesses are starting up/existing.

The newsletter will also provide a base for promotion of the facilities and entice new members to join through engaging with current events and keeping an up-to date creative mindset.

Pat Mehbrei via typography served and below David & Chloe's Leeds College of Art newsletter.

I've began looking at simple formats like the consentina fold and the book format. The document should be 8 pages long to accommodate:

1 page - cover
2 pages - featured member of the month
2 pages - news and exhibitons in Leeds
2 pages - new business of the month
1 page - about/pricing/facility details etc

Factory Four Logo

Type Treatment Contextual Research

Factory 4 Initial Development

Possible proposal for the new factory 4 (abbreviated) logo. The idea for this is based on an abstract blob-like form, like an ink splat in relation to the craft process.
I started sketching some of my initial ideas out on paper for the new factory 4 logo (below), simply playing with the name in a variety of different compositions and interesting typographic treatments.

One of the main Local competitors to Factory 4 locally is the West Yorkshire Print Workshop, not the most original name. They offer a variety of craft facilities, higher pricing and is more local to professionals in Huddersfield.
